COURSE DIRECTOR UK ADVANCE COMMAND & STAFF COLLEGE VIST TO DA RBAF

TANAH JAMBU, Tuesday, 18 June 2024 – The Defence Academy RBAF today received a visit by the Course Director, Advance Command and Staff Course, Defence Academy (DefAc) of the United Kingdom, Col Rory Shannon MBE accompanied by the United Kingdom Defence attaché, Capt Jon Caple, RN.

The interaction focused on the cross-sharing of best practices between the two academies surrounding emerging challenges particularly for the respective Command and Staff courses. Both sides also expressed appreciation for the successful planning and execution of the recent Second Conference of Commandants which was again co-chaired by both academies held at the Defence Academy RBAF earlier this year.
The discussions explored current approaches surrounding the increasing use if AI and the different ways to leverage on the technology. DefAc’s AI strategy was shared covering the use of AI in coursework and guidance on assessment strategies. Further to this, the discussions also delved into the relevance and practicality of Multi Domain Operations (MDO) and Multi Domain Integration (MDI) and the inherent challenges at the conceptual and practical levels.
The meeting ended with both sides reaffirming the close relationship between the two institutions and aspirations for more collaboration in the future.
